I have been shooting hip hop artists onstage and in the studio in NYC for well over ten years. Artists come to me because I understand who they are. Their music doesn't all sound the same to me. I know the difference between Trey Songz and B.G. And I understand how to shoot each artist the way he should be shot.
It's not that complicated. Basically I have a love of music that began way back in 1977 when I bought the KISS Love Gun album because I liked the cover. And I have a love of photography that began in 1984 when I bought a camera so I could take pictures of rock groups like Twisted Sister at the rock clubs I went to each weekend.
For a long time now I've loved both music and photography and I've been fortunate to find a way to make a living doing something that I really enjoy -photographing music artists. I can't imagine a better career.
In fact, the only thing I love more is my little girl. She may be only 3 years old but she handles a $5,000 Nikon like a seasoned pro.
